The ‘King of the Dolomites’ towers above the Boite valley south of Cortina, the second-highest summit in the range.

How to see it

The Antelao is best seen from the road between Cortina and Pieve di Cadore, and from San Vito di Cadore, where it towers directly above the village.

Where to stay

San Vito di Cadore, Borca di Cadore and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Compare the valleys in which Dolomites valley to stay in.

When to go

Its summit is a serious mountaineering objective. For most visitors, the view from the valley, or from huts such as Rifugio Galassi below its eastern flank, is the way to enjoy it.

Good to know

Locals call it the ‘King of the Dolomites’. Only the Marmolada is higher.
